When you need to troubleshoot an issue, what steps do you take to do so?

I usually search the internet first to see if anyone else had my problem if it is related to Operating systems and software which I cant fix by doing a virus scan, check disk, or reinstalling the software or driver software for a piece of hardware.

For hardware, I usually see if restarting the computer fixes the problem, and see if the hard drive, power supply, RAM and CPU are broken if the whole computer is broken.

I ask if the power is on or what it currently looks like, more than likely the user did something.

It is too bad that some computers have smaller powered lights or no lights, so it is harder for some users to know if the power is ON.

True, some have very odd power lights to them, not making it easy to tell whats on or not.

I think a lot of laptop and desktop power supplies may not have a power ON lights which can make troubleshooting power problems more difficult.

They don't it would be nice if their lights were closer to the button and a bit brighter.
