Are network Surge protector neccessary?

Post by froggyboy604 »

I'm not sure. A lot of people I know probably don't use them. I doubt many people use surge protected power bars or the cheapest ones that cost $5 at a discount store.

I notice there seems to be a lot of power spike related products for sale at a lot of stores.

Sure, I think they are for Hubs, Switches, Routors, and NICs.

Hubs, switches, routers are grounded anyway*

NICs generally should be grounded by the unit there integrated into

I guest RJ45 surge suppressors are just for added grounding protection . I once talk to someone who daisy chained like 3 surge protector together. He claimed it gave him added protection from power spikes.
