demand for Green envitomental products are making companies come out with more slower and lower quality tech?

Post by froggyboy604 »

I notice that a lot of manufactuers are pushing their green products that they claim use less power then other products.

Like a lot of companies say if you want to save money on electricity, buy a LCD and a laptop or a solid state drive.

It's true that LCD uses less power then a CRT, but the black level on LCD are not as good as on CRTs.

Laptops also are slower then desktops of the same price range because they have slower hardrives which spin at 5000 RPM compred to a 7200 RPM drive on a desktop.

I also notice the materials for some products seem kind of thin. I have an old boombox made from Thicker plastic and metals. But, these days a lot of boomboxs and computers look like they break if they fall from a low height because their case use less materials and is made from thin crackable plastics, or metal that dent easily.

yes yes they bloody well are

i beleive in saving the environment (ok so i lied, but it's lies anyway)
they should add a levy to sale price rather than decrease the robustness of the product

though amount of VAT uk folk pay, they should pay us,

I'm a strong beleive in robustness, desk i built 3 years ago, has been hurled out of r a 2nd floor window (3rd for yanks and those who beleive the ground floor is the first floor)
Slight chip,
Fallen off at 40mph, a few scratches were total damage,
only downside it weighed a quarter ton
though fire did destroy it, i was forced to destroy it as i needed a larger version

Though if you can get ANY piece of furniture from a store that can do that, it will be unbeleivably expensive,

though the laptop 5400 RPM drives has been for decades,
7200 rpm use to much energy for the poor pathetic battery that laptops have
I never really understood Thursdays.
