What video format do you think be most popular online?
I think FLV (Flash Video Youtube like video) be the most popular video format online since the flash video comes with a player on the site and it only requires Adobe flash player to be able to play it.

Tis easy AVI why?
AVI is easily the post popular format for Video files (Music Videos, Films, adverts etc.) FLV is more forced on you than selected
you tube and hundreds of other sites could use the AVI format but they don't why? it will errr.... increase quality i guess and probably raise there CPU usage by a few %
