Reasons for buying your own domain and webhosting?

Post by froggyboy604 »

You have more control on the content that you want to put on your site instead of geocities, myspace, facebook banning you for uploading copyrighted or whatever they don't agree with.

You have more space with webhosting, and it is sometimes faster then some free hosts.

Plus, you can sell your domain once it is worth a lot, or use your website to sell advertising, and products & services.

i prefer it, easier to track who's stealing your images as folk are lazy and tend to hotlink

you don't have as many security concerns if you on a decent host you also have the advantage of not having to worry about "exceeding bandwidth" like with many freehosts who limit you to just a few meg of bw and diskspace

It cost around 60 bucks a year or less depending how much space you buy. I think domain registration is about 10 bucks a year for a domain.

You can sell advertising, affiliates, products, etc to earn some extra cash to pay for hosting and a domain, or collect donations via paypal.

Another good reason is to have a domain is that your site have a unique name (yourname.com) instead of host.com/yoursite or yoursite.host.com

I think a major reason don't get their own hosting because people don't have paypal, credit cards, or other online payment accounts.

Plus, schools don't always do a good job at teaching basic web design, and FTP, MySQH databases for the web, and graphic design.
