Is anything free in life?

Yes for one person, but hardly both sides since someone elses pay for your free use instead of you paying for it.

For example, free software, it is free for the downloader/user, but the person who made the software had to buy a computer, use electricity, buy programming books, spend time and go to school, etc to use it.

No , there is nothing free in life .Everyone has to pay something for something in the form of money ,thing ,work e.t.c

You can say 'you can get something for free.' but you can't say 'it's completely free.'

I agree oxgen, salt water, air, etc are free.

some people need to by oxygen tanks, we buy bottle water and salt, and doesn't getting air cost the trees something?

The ocean and sea has plenty of salt water which you can go to the beach and swim in, and trees just need water, sun light, dirt, and air which is free for the tree since it does not have much of a choice since a tree can't decide to work for water, air, and dirt since it just grows when there is sun light, and dirt.
