Your views on search engine optimizations?

It is important to have your website load fast, and is easy to read,so engines and people can access it easier.

But, I hate it when spam bots join forum for the sake of increasing links to their website, so they rank higher on search engines.

I also dislike it when sites with not so useful info make it to the top of search results on engines because they used SEO techniques like having a massive link exchange campaign, buying links, free give aways to increase links but their content is poor to non-existant since it makes me waste my time looking for good content.
