8 out of 10 Malware can get passed the default UAC (User Activated Controls) settings for Win7. You can raise the UAC level to most secure, but be prepared for more UAC warnings.

This does not look good for MS. I hate UAC, so I just disable it, and install a good anti-virus, firewall, and anti-spyware program.

If you install a decent antivirus, firewall, and antispyware program. Plus, practice safe browsing habits online you can overcome this security problems. Most people who get viruses usually visit illegal porn sites, and unsafe piracy sites where some of the files are infected by viruses.

It is generally not a good idea to run any version of Windows without an antivirus. I think they did the test with just Windows 7 without any security software installed.

Those UAC pop-up don't look very effective since a lot of users will just press OK instead of Deny since they don't know what to do.
