Yes, I do, but I only got 2 or 3.
They always tell me about free software, etc. I think they just want me to post about them on my forums and blogs for free. They always seem to "pitch" their products a lot and send me PDF files of their "press releases" and more info.
I imagine it can get pretty overwhelming for people who run big sites like http://www.theregister.co.uk/ since tons of PR people for IT companies want a story about their site on such a popular site, so they send a lot of e-mails in hopes of getting a free story about their company.
Do you get e-mail messages from "public relations" from companies?

I think mostly blogs, and news websites get Press releases and Marketing pitchs since a lot of people use Blogs and news sites like CNN, ABC, CBS, BBC, CBC for staying informed, so the promotional dept. of companies try their best to get on popular blogs and news media sites for increase publicity.Skeithex wrote:I don't get them unless they end up in my spam folder.
If GF has a very popular gaming blog with a large following, Gaming force bloggers will get more e-mails from game makers who want GF to write about their games to spread the word.
In a way, it is a win win situation, you are one of the few people who know about a new game first, and the software publisher gets a free blog post to promote their products.
But, sometimes when developers want you to write about games and software that I am not interested in is when it gets difficult.
It is like if Nintendo came out with a boring game, and you don't want to write about it. They feel insulted, and probably won't tell you about Mario News or Pokemon news first before everyone else which is exciting news I want to know about.
I gotten a few version of paid software for free through e-mails from public realations company by just reviewing their software on my blog.
