Do you think submitting your links to directories work anymore at getting traffic?

I think directories work somewhat, but if the directory is dead or inactive, you get very little traffic for your time spent submitting your links to tons of directories.

I think your time would be better spent submitting your links to search engines, forums with a promotional area, and by doing link exchanges with related websites. Plus, writing "Great" content which people would naturally link to.

as long as the directory isn't completely dead then it should help.
