What exactly is pop music? Pop used to mean whatever is popular but I think it has its own beat now but what would be considered pop?In the 1970's had great soul and R&B music which was popular but I dont consider it pop!

I just think pop music is music which is not Rock, Rap, Country and Heavy Metal, and it has a softer beat, and the songs are usually about love, sadness, happyness, high school and rarely about the struggles of farmers, villagers, and workers who work in factories which is more common in Country songs.
