I think I need a new router

Post by Skeithex »

Spent most of the week playing with it's settings and my wired PC gets 2MB download and over wifi at best I'm getting 900 KB download maybe slightly 1MB. I should be getting 1.25 MB download but haven't had that in a month.

Maybe there are too many 2.4GHz routers and interference from Microwave, Bluetooth, cordless phones, and other devices in your area which use the 2.4 GHz wireless frequency. I read Dual-Band routers which use both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies reduces the interference, and has faster speeds.

The ASUS Dual-Band Wireless-N 600 Router (RT-N56U) looks like a pretty good Dual-band router for $87.98.

A little pricey for something that has mixed reviews. Does look nice though.
