Post by Skeithex »

Have you ever gotten a bad update from Microsoft or another one of your programs that caused your PC issues?

I had updates which failed to install, and made my PC keep restarting.

I've had a few that disabled some of my services like sound. Really annoying.

I think this could be caused by Windows Update installing the wrong sound driver software, or another software problem. I usually manually update my sound card driver by going to the website and downloading the latest driver for my sound card or chip.

It is also a good idea to manually install the video card drivers if Windows updates accidentally install the wrong video card driver, you would have no video, or can't login to Windows if Windows failed to boot.

they were all reltek though, so I'm wondering if it was just a bad update. Those do tend to pop up.

A lot of sound, and SD card reader drivers seem to made by Realtek. I think Realtek released some drivers which made the sound and my SD card on my PC not work until I uninstalled the new driver, and installed an older version.

yeah I had issues for awhile, but I think a recent update fixed things.
