Explaining RAM to someone

If you had to explain what RAM inside of a computer, how would you do it?

I say RAM is temporary memory/storage where the data is stored temporary until you close your computer program, or until the program does not need the data anymore.

A good one, but I also say how it allows more than one program to run at a time and how many tabs you can open on a browser.
