I can see this being a problem for setting up Office 365.
I think some people may have e-mails which they don't know they have, or forgot they have. Most colleges and some high schools give e-mails to students and former students.
A lot of ISPs and web hosts also provide an e-mail service.

it's actually the old folk who don't want to bother with emails.
I think stores like Bestbuy could earn a little extra money selling cheap basic e-mail addresses and service to old people who just need an e-mail address for Microsoft Office, and e-mail verification for forums and social networks.

so you're saying they are to sell what is basically free?
Many ISPs and paid web hosts provide e-mail addresses to paid subscribers, so e-mail is not free for paid ISP and web hosting subscribers. There is a paid version of gmail, yahoo mail, outlook, privacy secure e-mail services, and other e-mail services. Most e-mail service is not totally free because most free e-mail services has ads, so the advertisers are paying for free users e-mail address and storage, so e-mail users would view and click their ad.
There maybe a few e-mail users who may pay $1 or more a month to have a better e-mail address with a nicer domain name instead of a generic e-mail address from Yahoo, gmail, outlook, etc.
