I feel fake cables can also break your equipment, and may melt.

I think there is also a chance that you get a different item like a piece of rope in the box which may not even be a cable if you buy a fake cable by mistake.

True, I've bought PC batteries before and ended up with pc stylus instead.

I think sometimes people at the shipping company or store may replace the real item with a random item to add weight to the package, so people may not notice the real item is not missing as quickly.

That's how it works, so they can take the item for themselves or sell it for extra cash.

I heard of people getting slower CPUs instead of faster CPUs which they bought.
